E-RECYCLING DAY (& SHREDDING, TOO!)

E-RECYCLE:

Recycle your unwanted/outdated electronics responsibly! The City of Leawood’s Sustainability Advisory Board and Midwest Recycling Center will be offering contact-less drop off of items such as TVs, cellphones, gaming systems, home appliances and much more on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 8am – 12pm at Town Center Plaza.

E-recycling will occur first come, first served – items will be accepted through 12pm or until the trucks are full.

A wide variety of electronics can be recycled for free. Some electronics have associated recycling fees. Please click here to view the list of recyclable items and any associated fees.

**FOR ITEMS WITH ASSOCIATED FEES: PAYMENTS ARE CASH OR CHECK ONLY. CHECKS CAN BE MADE OUT TO MRC RECYCLING.**

SHREDDING:

New this year, the Leawood Police Department and Shred-it will be accepting paper documents to shred immediately on-site. This service is free. Mixed media will not be accepted; paper only, please. This service will occur in the same traffic lane as e-recycling. So no need for multiple stops.

Shredding will occur first come, first served – paper documents will be accepted through 12pm or until the truck is full.

HOW IT WORKS:

Friendly staff and volunteers will be ready to direct you through the event in an organized manner. MRC will have staff to unload your vehicle of your electronics for proper recycling. LPD will be happy to unload your paper for shredding. There is usually no need to exit the vehicle. Simply tell the staff/officer what you have to drop off and where it is located; pop the trunk open, if needed. The MRC staff, Leawood City volunteers and police will take care of the rest!

The event will take place in the north parking lot of Town Center Plaza. Please enter via 117 St. from Nall Ave. or Town Center Dr. from Roe Ave.
